Launching of two National Policies for Disability Services

Two National Policies for Disability Services will be launched via webinar on March 12, 2021. These are the:

1. Food, Nutrition and Hydration Policy for Adults Accessing Disability Services

The purpose of this policy is to improve the quality and safety of nutritional care for adults accessing disability services. This policy is accompanied by a comprehensive Implementation Toolkit to support the implementation of the policy.

2. National Framework for Medicines Management in Disability Services

The purpose of this framework is to provide guidance on medicines management for staff working in disability services and is intended to be used by service providers when developing or revising their own local medicines management policies. The framework applies to all services providing supports to individuals with a disability that are directly provided or funded by the HSE and is applicable to all staff working in those services.

The target audience for this webinar are disabled people, staff (nurses, social care workers, care assistants, key workers, speech and language therapists, dietitians, chefs etc.) and management, carers, families. The webinar will include presentations from Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, Disability Services Quality Improvement and National Leads from Disability Services and the National Clinical Programme for People with Disability.
