Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, St. James’s Hospital, Dublin Declan is a Consultant Physician specialising in Geriatric and General Medicine at St. James’s Hospital Dublin where he is the lead for Acute Medicine. Additionally trained in clinical nutrition and pharmaceutical medicine, he is a member of the management committee of the Irish Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He is the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute. He is a clinical senior lecturer in Medical Gerontology at Trinity College Dublin and he is the current chairman of the Joint Coordinating Committee for the BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics run by TCD and the Dublin Institute of Technology. His research and clinical interests span acute medicine, stroke medicine, malnutrition, frailty and pharmacoeconomics.
