Consultation on the Critical Care Programme’s ‘Intensive care nutrition support guideline algorithm for adults’
This is an update of the 2012/2013 algorithm and reference document. The objective of the nutrition support algorithm and guidance (see attached) is to assist and support the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) clinician and multidisciplinary team in decision making regarding nutrition support provision to adult ICU patients, particularly to patients presenting to ICU out-of-hours. It is hoped that this reference guideline and algorithm will support development of local guidelines for ICU. The document promotes the identification of nutrition risk and should lead to more appropriate goal driven nutrition support in those who need it most, delivered at the right time and with the right dose per phase of illness.
We know this consultation will be of interest to all frontline and management staff involved in the provision of care to adult patients in the intensive care setting. We would like to hear your views on the proposed algorithm and guidance. The closing date for receipt of feedback is 20th May 2020. Feedback will be reviewed by the Algorithm Development Group after this consultation process. Please send feedback to ccp@coa.ie using the attached feedback template. If you have any queries, please contact me at carmelohanlon@beaumont.ie.
The consultation document and feedback form are also available at https://www.hse.ie/eng/about/who/cspd/ncps/critical-care/
Thank you in advance for your time.
