Congratulations to our IrSPEN2021 Poster Winners

The IrSPEN Board is pleased to announce the IrSPEN2021 Poster Winners.  As expected, the standard of poster submissions this year was very high.  Our seven winners were selected based on a number of criteria, most important of which is the potential of their research to advance our knowledge and/or practice of nutritional care for patient benefit.   



The Poster Winners for IrSPEN2021:

Ms Richelle Flanagan – The unmet nutritional needs of people living with Parkinson’s Disease

Ms Erin Stella Sullivan – High prevalence of weight loss and abnormal body composition in a large sample of ambulatory Irish cancer patients

Ms Nicola Dervan – A Nutrition-Focused Physical Examination workshop improves skills and knowledge of registered dietitians in the diagnosis of malnutrition

Ms Aisling Nolan – Evaluating the nutritional status of head and neck cancer (HNC) patients undergoing radical radiotherapy

Laura McBean & Dr Aisling Geraghty – Analysis of dispensing patterns and non-disease specific oral nutritional supplement usage in primary care: The ONSPres Project

Dr Anne Griffin – The prevalence and impact on patient outcomes of malnutrition among older adults presenting at an Irish emergency department: a secondary analysis of the OPTIMEND trial.

Dr. Kathryn Allen – The Anorexia Nervosa Care Pathway: Clinical pathway compliance can standardise quality of care for patients with severe anorexia nervosa admitted for medical monitoring.
